8 Golden Rules for the Perfect Bedouin Tent Wedding

Following our last post- 8 Golden Rules for the Perfect Marquee Wedding this week we look at Bedouin Tent Weddings.

Over the past few years Bedouin Tents have had a bit of an upward swing.  More and more brides are ditching formal indoor venues for a more ‘in touch with nature’ boho inspired wedding.  And boy oh boy, what’s not to love.

A Bedouin Tents Tent Wedding, granted, is not for everyone, but this style of wedding is a new breed that is taking Cape Town by storm.

Bedouin Tents are extremely versatile - they can be linked together, they can be attached to buildings, a few Bedouin Tents can be set up for different areas.  Bedouin Tents are also referred to as ’freeform tents’ and that’s just how you should look at them - free from form.

Our 6 Golden Rules for the Perfect Bedouin Tents Tent Wedding

  1. Fair Weather is perfect weather for a Bedouin Tents Wedding. Bedouin Tents do not do well in windy and rainy conditions. Choosing your date should be an informed and calculated decision. Late spring and summer are the best seasons, even up to the start of autumn

  1. Best advice is to have fans or misting fans during the day and heaters for the night. This will keep the suited and booted men cool during the day, and the ladies in their frocks warm at night

  1. Bedouin Tents need to be oversized to be able to drop the corners and some sides down, so working on 2.5sqm per person is ideal. This get a little confusing, so best leave that to us to avoid a miscalculation. We will ask all the right questions to get the best results

  1. We will always drop a side or 2 of the Bedouin Tents to block out any prevailing wind. This might mess with the internal layout ever-so-slightly, which would need to be reworked, but better that then the Bedouin Tents being used as a sail

  1. Do cons ider the direction of the sun and ultimately where it will set. Same principal as the wind – you don’t want the sun blazing in the whole afternoon.

  1. The traditional colour for a Bedouin Tents wedding is white, but do keep in mind that there is a full range of colours available – so if you are more into a themed wedding, be it Boho, African, Moroccan, Indian don’t forget to ask what colours we have in stock

  1. Lighting is - dare we say- almost as important as the food.  The perfect lighting solution for a Bedouin Tent is fairy light or string lights hung in a gloriously disorganised manner so they can shimmer like the stars. Fairy lights can also be put into large bell jars and places on the tables as centre pieces. Chandeliers, Chinese Lanterns, Glow Balls are all beautiful options to consider as well

  1. Don’t forget that the Bedouin Tent integrates the surroundings into your wedding, so pay some special attention to the nearby trees, pathways flower beds and see what you can add to make it part of the bigger picture.
